Why have I received a letter from Credit Corp?

Credit Corp takes over existing debts from the original credit provider, so it is likely we have received your details in connection with an overdue account - such as a credit card, store card or personal loan.

The outstanding balance, an account reference number and contact details for Credit Corp and your Customer Relationship Manager are provided for your reference.

On receipt of a letter from Credit Corp, you should contact your Customer Relationship Manager as soon as possible to discuss resolving the debt.

What could happen if I don't pay?

This depends greatly on the individual account and circumstances. Possible consequences may include an unresolved default remaining on your credit file - which can affect your ability to obtain future credit, repossession of purchased goods or other legal action to enforce payment.

Even if you think you cannot pay the debt, you should not ignore it. Taking steps to reduce the outstanding balance can avoid the debt becoming a bigger obstacle down the track.

Credit Corp takes your financial situation into account when discussing repayment options. Contact Us to discuss how to resolve your account and prevent the debt from becoming a burden in your financial future.

How do I pay?

The easiest way to make regular payments that reduce your debt over time is by setting up a Direct Debit payment arrangement. Contact your Customer Relationship Manager to agree on a fixed amount to be periodically deducted from your nominated bank account. The required authority can be provided over the phone or by using our direct debit authority form.

Credit Corp also accepts a range of other payment methods, including BPay, PostPay and online credit card payments. These payment methods are listed on the reverse of many of our letters for your reference, along with a payment slip for use at PostPay outlets. For over-the-counter payments made at any Westpac branch, download our Westpac deposit slip.

You should always quote your account reference number when making a payment to ensure the payment can be assigned to your account.

Do I have to get a third party (such as a debt administrator) involved?

Involving a third party is entirely your decision. However, when providing advice, some consultants may not be familiar enough with Credit Corp to take into account the various payment approaches we are willing to consider.

Speak to Credit Corp first before considering a course of action that involves any form of bankruptcy or personal insolvency. Credit Corp is willing to discuss payment options that help our customers avoid formal debt administration and remain in control of their financial decision making.

Why do I have to confirm my date of birth and other details over the phone?

This is a security measure which protects your privacy. Credit Corp adheres to Privacy Act legislation, which stipulates that information about an account can only be disclosed to those authorised to receive it. Typically this is the account holder.

By providing these details, you help us confirm that you are the account holder (or other authorised person) and enable us to speak to you about how your account can be resolved.

This restriction also applies to partners and relatives, so we are not permitted to discuss your account with any other party unless we have received written confirmation that you authorise us to do so.

Is Credit Corp a credit bureau?

Organisations that manage your credit file include Veda Advantage and Dun & Bradstreet. Credit Corp is not itself a credit bureau.
